MARRIAGE ELUDES HIGH-ACHIEVING BLACK WOMEN

Many remain single and childless, according to new research
Michelle Obama may have become an archetypal African-American female success story — law career, strong marriage, happy children — but the reality is often very different for other highly educated black women.

They face a series of challenges in navigating education, career, marriage and child-bearing, dilemmas that often leave them single and childless even when they’d prefer marriage and family, according to a research study recently presented at the American Sociological Society’s annual meeting in San Francisco.

Yale researchers Natalie Nitsche and Hannah Brueckner argued that “marriage chances for highly educated black women have declined over time relative to white women.” Women of both races with postgraduate educations “face particularly hard choices between career and motherhood,” they said, “but especially in the absence of a reliable partner.” Read the rest of the story on MSNBC HERE

In regards to the black educated women story, I believe that black men expect black women to be superheroes and put too much on our backs. I'm a college educated beautiful happily single mom. Every man I have ever dated were sex crazed and wanted me to sit at home to have babies. The moment I began to better myself and the more educated I became, the more difficult it became to enter into a relationship. I am single because I am scared. I can't find a man who is trustworthy.

I've dated rich and poor black men, but they were all the same...dishonest and deceitful. They loved to play games and always tried to outsmart me when all I ever wanted was love. They want sex and babies but don't want to be a husband and father. Too many of our households are headed by single mothers because black men refuse to let go of their dicks and grab onto their hearts.

I don't want to date outside of my race because I don't know if that type of man would be able to relate to my lifestyle. But I am still young and healthy and I keep my heart open. I will marry the first honest man that I meet...if there is such a thing. But in the meanwhile, I don't care anymore.

It's easy to point the finger at someone and tell them there wrong and your right. Some people train there mind in believing that they have all the answers.

I don't have all the answers. I have found that comunication is the key(to everything)and usually that key is a question.

Having doubt about someone is okay, it gives you the chance to learn more about the other person by asking questions. Maybe we should focus on asking the right questions so we can gain trust and save whatever relationship you have.

Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong time-frame,cause RACE and LOVE dont mix well in the 21st Century. I have found a combination of jewels that mix very well with love and here they are:
1.Knowledge
2.Wisdom
3.Understanding
4.Health
5.Freedom
6.Justice
7.Food
8.Clothing
9.Shelter
10.Happiness
11.Peace
12. and of course LOVE

Take care of yourself everyone and one more thing,if your so quick to believe what you read, see and hear.......then you should be afraid.........of yourself.

Wow zodcore, well said...what i believe is that people put external things ahead of those 12 things that u mentioned. I'm college educated too but I know a lot of people who didn't step foot in a university that are a lot smarter than I will ever be....so I will never hold that against my potential soul mate. I don't judge ppl by status, only by their hearts. If he don't have good credit and is just an average Joe, so what? But a man who loves and loves deeply is priceless, and he is out there...women, we just have to be super happy in the meanwhile...
